またまたボブ・ディラン(Bob Dylan)です。これで一旦終わりにしようと思っていますが、どうなることやら。しばらくしたらまた出て来そうです。
曲は私がボブ・ディランに嵌った原因となった曲です。それが『ライク・ア・ローリング・ストーン(Like A Rolling Stone)』です。
最初に聴いた時にノックアウトされました。「どんな気がする！、どんな気がする！」と言われ、考え込んでしまいました。
この曲はディランの１９６５年のアルバム『追憶のハイウェイ６１(Highway 61 Revisited)』のオープニング曲です。上流階級の女が転落しホームレスで売春婦までに身を落とす内容ですが、この頃のディランの詩には「二つの意味が隠されている」とよく言われていました。私などはこの曲を聴いた当時、高校生だったと思いますが、今の自分に対しカツを入れられた気分でした。「何をやっているんだ！」と。
この「ライク・ア・ローリング・ストーン」はロック史上、いや音楽史上に残る名曲だと勝手に思っています。
この曲にはオリジナルのスタジオレコーディングの他に多くのライブ・バージョンがありますが、私はオリジナル・バージョンが一番好きです。マイク・ブルームフィールド(Mike Bloomfield)のギターとアル・クーパー(Al Kooper)のオルガンが聴けます。

この曲は当然ながら多くの人にカバーされました。中でも私が最初に聴いたのがジミ・ヘンドリックス(Jimi Hendrix)のカバーバージョンでした。中でもモンタレー・ポップ・フェスティバルでの演奏は圧巻でした。ジミヘンはこの曲以外にも先日紹介した「見張り塔からずっと」もカバーしています。
そしてずいぶん時間が経ってから、ローリング・ストーンズ(The Rolling Stones)がライブでカバーしました。アルバム『Stripped』に収められました。
