今日の「聴き比べ」はボブ・ディラン(Bob Dylan)の『はげしい雨が降る(A Hard Rain's a-Gonna Fall)』です。
この曲は１９６３年の２枚目のアルバム『フリー・ホイリーン(The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan)』に収録された曲です。
例によって如何様にも解釈できる歌詞の内容になっています。ちょうどキューバ危機のあった頃の歌で、私には世界の終わりを意識させるような絶望感が感じられました。
この曲もご多分に漏れず、多くのミュージシャンにカバーされていますが、今日は趣向を変えて、本人歌唱の聴き比べをしてみたいと思います。ＣＤ時代になって昔の音源が続々発表されるようになりました。そんな中から２つ、３つ選んでみたいと思います。

１９９１年に『ブートレグ・シリーズ１～３集(The Bootleg Series Volumes 1–3 (Rare & Unreleased) 1961–1991)』というものが発売されました。そして２００４年には『ブートレグ・シリーズ第６集 アット・フィルハーモニック・ホール(The Bootleg Series Vol. 6: Bob Dylan Live 1964, Concert at Philharmonic Hall)』さらに２００５年には『ブートレグ・シリーズ第７集 ノー・ディレクション・ホーム(The Bootleg Series Vol. 7: No Direction Home)』が発売されました。それらの中でこの曲のライブが収められました。この映像がその時のものかは不明ですが、同じ時期のものと思われるので載せます。

１９７１年にはジョージ・ハリソン主催の『バングラディッシュのコンサート』が映画化されました。この中でこの曲を演奏しています。ジョージとレオン・ラッセルを従えての演奏です。

２００２年には１９７５年頃の「ローリング・サンダー・レビュー」の模様を収めた『ブートレグ・シリーズ第５集(The Bootleg Series Vol.5 : Bob Dylan Live 1975, The Rolling Thunder Revue)』が発売されました。同じ曲とは思えないアレンジです。この頃は全ての曲が全く新しいアレンジが施されて歌っていました。

１９９４年には日本の奈良・東大寺で『GME '94 〜21世紀への音楽遺産をめざして〜 AONIYOSHI』と呼ばれるコンサートが開催されました。そこでボブ・ディランは東京ニューフィルハーモニック管弦楽団をバックにこの曲を歌いました。このコンサートにはボン・ジョヴィやジョニ・ミッチェル、ライ・クーダーなども出演しました。その時の映像です。
