昨夜、訃報が飛び込んできました。寺内タケシさんが亡くなりました。８２歳でした。
我々世代にとっては寺内タケシさんはまさに「エレキの神様」でした。エレキブームの先駆けでした。
アメリカのザ・ベンチャーズと共に日本でのエレキブームを巻き起こしたのは間違いなく寺内さんでした。グループサウンズ時代にもブルージーンズやバニーズを率いて活躍しました。映画『エレキの若大将』で若大将の加山雄三さんとエレキを弾く姿も忘れられません。あの頃の小学生や中学生はみんな憧れたのではないでしょうか。エレキギターが飛ぶように売れました。

さて、今日の「聴き比べ」はニール・ヤング(Neil Young)の『Cowgirl in the Sand』です。
この曲は１９６９年のニール・ヤングのソロ第２作『Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere』に収録された曲です。映画『いちご白書』で使われた「Down By The River」と並んで大作です。
このアルバムではエレクトリック・バージョンですが、１９７１年にリリースされたクロスビー、スティルス、ナッシュ＆ヤング(Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young)のライヴ・アルバム『4 Way Street』ではアコースティック・バージョンを披露しています。その後のソロ・ライヴ・アルバムでも何度か演じています。

CSN&Yのアコースティック・バージョン。
この曲をザ・バーズ(The Byrds)が解散後、１９７３年にオリジナル・メンバーで再結成した時にリリースしたアルバム『Byrds』でカバーしました。取り上げたのはジーン・クラーク(Gene Clark)でした。カントリー・タッチです。
