今日の「聴き比べ」はプロコル・ハルム(Procol Harum)の『ソルティ・ドッグ(A Salty Dog)』です。
この曲はプロコル・ハルムの１９６９年のサード・アルバム『A Salty Dog』に収録された曲で、シングル・カットもされました。
「青い影」で一躍人気バンドになったプロコル・ハルム。その音楽性はロックとクラシックの融合ともいうべき壮大なスケールが特徴です。そしてもう一つ、専属の詩人、キース・リード(Keith Reid)の存在です。しかし、「青い影」の大ヒットでその他の曲には注目が集まりませんでした。ところが彼らのアルバムは名曲の宝庫です。その辺りのことは以前の記事でも書いています。
この『A Salty Dog』もそんな名曲のなかの1曲です。
