今日の「聴き比べ」はブラッド・スウェット・アンド・ティアーズ(Blood, Sweat & Tears,BST)の『スピニング・ホイール(Spinning Wheel)』です。
１９６７年、アル・クーパー(Al Kooper)によって結成されたＢＳＴでしたが、ファーストアルバムのリリース後、メンバー間の意見の食い違いからアル・クーパーはあっさりとバンドを去りました。
代わりに加わったヴォーカリスト、デヴィッド・クレイトン・トーマス(David Clayton-Thomas)を中心にしたセカンド・アルバム『Blood, Sweat & Tears』に収録された『スピニング・ホイール(Spinning Wheel)』が翌年にシングルカットされるとこれがビルボードの２位を記録しました。
これ以降、ＢＳＴは日本でのブラスロックというジャンルを築き上げたのです。いわゆるジャズとロックの融合の奔りでした。
