今日の「聴き比べ」はグランド・ファンク・レイルロード(Grand Funk Railroad, GFR)の『アメリカン・バンド(We're an American Band)』です。
またまたグランド・ファンクです。彼らの大ヒット曲です。何しろ１９６０年代後半から１９７０年代にかけての彼らの人気は日本でも絶大でした。いわゆるアメリカン・ハード・ロック・バンドの代表格でした。粗野な感じが何とも言えず魅力的でした。
この曲は１９７３年の同名のアルバム『We're an American Band』の１曲目に収録され、シングルでも全米１位に輝きました。このアルバムをプロデュースしたのがこのブログでも紹介したトッド・ラングレン(Todd Rundgren) でした。
この後、先日も「聴き比べ」た「ロコモーション」も大ヒットし、全盛期を迎えます。
