この曲はサイモン＆ガーファンクルの１９６６年発売の３枚目のアルバム『パセリ・セージ・ローズマリー・アンド・タイム(Parsley, Sage, Rosemary and Thyme)』に収録された曲です。翌年には「動物園にて(At the Zoo)」のＢ面として発売されました。

「５９番橋」とはニューヨークのクイーンズボロ橋の別名です。この曲も多くの人にカバーされました。
