今日の「聴き比べ」はシェール(Cher)の『悲しきジプシー(Gypsys, Tramps & Thieves)』です。
この曲はシェールが１９７１年に放ったヒット曲です。シェールは『サニー(Sunny)』などのヒット曲で知られるインディアン・シンガーです。
私などはソニー＆シェール(Sonny & Cher)としてよく知っていました。ソニー・ボノ(Sonny Bono)はシンガー・ソングライターでシェールの最初の夫です。１９７５年に離婚。単独で活動し、その年にグレッグ・オールマン(gregg Allman)と結婚します。二人は『Allman And Woman』として活動します。１９７７年にはアルバム『Two The Hard Way』もリリースします。
しかし、１９７９年には再び離婚。その後は女優としても活躍し、音楽活動もバリバリ行っています。
この曲は１９７１年のアルバム『Cher』に収録されました。全米１位に輝き、日本でも大ヒットしました。
