この曲はＪ.Ｊケイル(J.J Cale)が書いて、自身のアルバム『ナチュラリー(Naturally)』で発表した曲です。朴訥とした歌い方と、バックのレイドバックした演奏が彼の魅力でした。１９７２年の発表でした。

１９７４年にはレーナード・スキナード(Lynyrd Skynyrd)が２枚目のアルバム『セカンド・ヘルピング(Second Helping)でこの曲をカバーしました。いかにもサザンロックらしいアレンジです。この曲はその後彼らのライブの定番になりました。

さらに、Ｊ.Ｊケイルと親交の深かったエリック・クラプトン(Eric Clapton)が２０１３年の彼の死を受けて、翌年２０１４年に彼に捧げたアルバム『The Breeze: An Appreciation of J.J. Cale』をリリースしました。このアルバムの１曲目でこの曲をカバーしています。多くの仲間たちが集まりました。

これ以前、遡ること１０年、二人の競演がＤＶＤになっていました。クラプトンの『クロスロード・ギターフェスティバル』にＪ.Ｊケイルが出演したときの模様です。
さらにこの二人は、以前の記事にも書いたように、競演アルバムをリリースしています。
因縁浅からぬ二人の「コール・ミー・ザ・ブリーズ」です。しかし、やっぱりレ－ナード・スキナードの「コール・ミー・ザ・ブリーズ」は圧巻です。
