この曲はアメリカのシンガー・ソングライター、マイケル・マーフィー(Michael Murphey)が１９７３年のセカンドアルバム『Cosmic Cowboy Souvenir』に収録した曲です。マイケル・マーフィーはカントリー界では超有名人です。一貫してカウボーイスタイルを貫いています。数々の賞も受賞しています。

実はマイケル・マーフィーのオリジナルを聴く前に、深夜のテレビでこの曲をニッティ・グリッティ・ダート・バンド(Nitty Gritty Dart Band,NGDB)が歌っているのを、たまたま観たのです。これが実によくて、翌日レコード屋に走りました。そしてシングル盤を買いました。

その後、彼らのアルバム『星条旗よ永遠なれ!(Stars And Stripes Forever)』に収録されたことを知り、買ってしまいました。このアルバムは新曲とライブが入り混じった変則アルバムの２枚組でした。
