今日の「聴き比べ」はレイ・チャールズ(Ray Charles)の『我が心のジョージア(Georgia on My Mind)』です。
もはやスタンダードになってしまった曲で、ジョージア州の州歌にもなった曲です。
原曲はホーギー・カーマイケル作曲、ステュアート・ゴレル作詞で１９３０年にカーマイケル楽団でレコーディングされました。その後、フランキー・トラムバウアーの楽曲がヒットして定着しました。
そして１９６０年にレイ・チャールズのバージョンが大ヒットし、広く世の中に知られるようになりました。１９７９年にはジョージア州歌にもなりました。
今までにたくさんの人がカバーしました。
