今日の「聴き比べ」は『ルビー・チューズデイ(Ruby Tuesday)』です。
この曲は勿論ローリング・ストーン(The Rolling Stones)の曲です。初期のストーンズの曲に中では私に好きな曲の一つです。作詞・作曲はジャガー/リチャーズになっていますが実際はキース・リチャーズ一人のようです。まだブライアン・ジョーンズが在籍中の曲です。
１９６７年、「夜をぶっ飛ばせ(Let's Spend the Night Together)」と両面シングルで発売されました。全英３位を記録しました。アメリカでも好調でした。アルバムはアメリカ盤の『Between the Buttons』に収録されました。

この曲をなんとあのメラニー(Melanie)がカバーしました。メラニーと言えば日本でもフォークファンなどに人気のあったシンガー・ソングライターです。「心の扉をあけよう(Brand New Key)」は全米で１位を記録したほか全世界でもヒットしました。
その彼女が１９７０年のアルバム『Candles In The Rain』でカバーしました。このアルバムには１９６９年開催の「ウッドストック」出演時に歌った「Lay Down」も収録されています。
いかにもメラニーらしい歌唱です。ついでに彼女の代表曲を２曲。
