今日の「聴き比べ」は『オール・バイ・マイセルフ(All By Myself)』です。
この曲はエリック・カルメン(Eric Carmen)が１９７５年に発表した曲です。エリック・カルメンと言えばラズベリーズ(Raspberries)のヴォーカリストでソングライターでした。１９７４年に解散してソロに転向しました。その辺りのことは以前の記事で書きました。
そのエリック・カルメンが１９７５年にソロ・デビュー・アルバム『Eric Carmen』をリリースし、その中の「All By Myself」が全米２位の大ヒットとなりました。
この曲はセルゲイ・ラフマニノフのピアノ協奏曲第2番ハ短調 作品18第二楽章（アダージョ・ソステヌート）をモチーフにした大作で、日本でもテレビＣＭなどに使用され人気となった曲です。

そしてセリーヌ・ディオン(Céline Dion)が１９９６年のアルバム『FALLING INTO YOU』の中でカバーしました。そしてシングル・カットされビルボード・ホット１００では４位となり、世界中で大ヒットしました。
