この曲は１９７１年のアルバム『いとしのレイラ(Layla And Other Assorted Love Songs)』に収録された曲です。
エリック・クラプトン(Eric Clapton)がジョージ・ハリソン(George Harrison)の妻であるパティ・ボイド(Pattie Boyd)に恋をして、その苦しみを歌った曲です。
その辺りのことは、クラプトンのドキュメンタリー映画で詳しく描かれました。
このアルバムはパティ・ボイドのために作られたようなものでした。
