今日の「聴き比べ」はジョン・レノン(John Lennon)の『ジェラス・ガイ(Jealous Guy)』です。
ジョン・レノンが１９７１年に発表したアルバム『イマジン(Imagine)』に収録された曲です。
この曲はビートルズ時代に作られた曲で、タイトルも『Child Of Nature』というものでした。当時の録音は『Let It Be...Nacked』のボーナスＣＤに収録されています。アレンジも歌詞も違います。
ビートルズ解散後、歌詞を変え、アレンジをフィル・スペクターに依頼して出来上がったのが『ジェラス・ガイ(Jealous Guy)』です。ジョンが亡くなった後、日本で独自にシングル発売しました。

この曲をフェイセズ(Faces)がカバーしました。名義はロッド・スチュワート＆フェイセズ(Rod Stewart & Faces)です。ロニー・レーンがバンドを去って、山内テツが加入後のライヴ盤です。『Live Coast To Coast - Overture And Beginners』です。１９７４年リリース。

１９８１年にはジョンの追悼でロキシー・ミュージック(Roxy Music)がシングル発表しました。これがヒットし、全英1位になりました。
２００４年にはジョー・コッカー(Joe Cocker)がカバーしました。アルバム『Heart & Soul』です。
