今日の「聴き比べ」はイーグルス(Eagles)の大ヒット曲『わが愛の至上(Best Of My Love)』です。
イーグルスの１９７４年の３枚目のアルバム『オン・ザ・ボーダー(On The Border)』に収録され、シングルカットされて全米１位を記録した曲です。
イーグルスはこの『オン・ザ・ボーダー』あたりからカントリー・ロックからハードなロックへと変身して来たころです。その中でこの曲は静かなバラードでイーグルスの新たな一面を打ち出した曲でした。アルバムにはドン・フェルダーが参加していますが、まだ正式メンバーではありませんでした。

この曲をイヴォンヌ・エリマン(Yvonne Elliman)がカバーしました。１９７５年のアルバム『Rising Sun』です。イヴォンヌ・エリマンといえば一時期エリック・クラプトンのバンドに在籍し、１９７４年の日本公演でも同行しました。クラプトンと歌っていました。

そしてロッド・スチュワート(Rod Stewart)が、以前紹介したアルバム『グレイト・ロック・クラシック』でカバーしています。
