この曲の歌詞に登場する自惚れ屋は誰なのかということで当時話題になりました。ミック・ジャガーやジェイムス・テイラーなどの名前が取りざたされましたが、後年彼女は２番の歌詞は俳優のウォーレン・ビーティだと明かしました。ウォーレン・ビーティと言えば『俺たちに明日はない』で一躍大スターになった俳優であり監督です。これには驚きました。彼は類い稀なプレイボーイで、不思議ではありませんが、カーリー・サイモンにまで手を出していたとは。
