今日の「聴き比べ」は『怒りの涙(Tears of Rage)』です。
この曲は先日も紹介した、ボブ・ディラン(Bob Dylan)がバイク事故で引きこもったウッドストック近郊の家、「ビッグ・ピンク」でのザ・ホークス(The Hawks)(後のザ・バンド(The Band))とのセッションでできた曲の中の１曲です。
ディランとしての音源は１９７５年のアルバム『地下室(The Basement Tapes)』の発表まで待たねばなりませんでしたが、ザ・バンドの方が１９６８年のデビューアルバム『Music From Big Pink』で発表しました。
詞はボブ・ディランで曲はリチャード・マヌエルです。ザ・バンドのバージョンでもリチャードがヴォーカルを執っています。

ザ・バーズ(The Byrds)を辞めたジーン・クラーク(Gene Clark)が１９７１年に発表した傑作アルバム『White Light』でこの曲をカバーしました。
フォーク・デュオのイアン＆シルヴィア(Ian & Sylvia)が１９６８年のアルバム『Full Circle』でカバーしました。
ジョーン・バエズ(Joan Baez)が１９６８年にボブ・ディランに捧げたアルバム『Any Day Now』でカバーしました。
