この曲はブラザース・フォア(The Brothers Four)で有名ですが、原曲は１９５６年のイージー・ライダース(Easy Ryders)でした。

ブラザース・フォア（ブラフォー）が１９６０年にこの曲をリリースすると全米２位となるヒットとなり、その後も映画『アラモ』の挿入歌「遥かなるアラモ (The Green Leaves of Summer)」などのヒットで、ピーター・ポール＆マリーと並んでアメリカン・フォークの両雄となりました。日本でも抜群の人気でした。
