今日の「聴き比べ」はシカゴ(Chicago)の『長い夜(25 or 6 to 4)』です。
シカゴはブラッド・スウェット・アンド・ティアーズ(ＢＳＴ)と並んでブラスロックの両巨頭です。
結成はＢＳＴと同時期の１９６７年です。１９６９年にＢＳＴと同じくジェイムズ・ウィリアム・ガルシオのプロデュースでデビューします。
この曲は彼らの１９７０年の２枚目のアルバム『Chicago(シカゴⅡ シカゴと23の誓い)』に収録されました。彼らのアルバムはとにかく２枚組が多く、３作目まではすべて２枚組でした。高くて参りました。息の長いバンドで現在も活動中です。
ビルボードの４位になったこの曲は日本でも売れ、シカゴ人気が沸き起こりました。
